I start this recap with a big group cheer (minus the mini-skirts and pompons; those are for the Gleeks), because I'm pretty sure the entire "Biggest Loser" viewing world was left feeling the same way at the end of Tuesday night's episode.

We wanted to see how Rulon voted! We wanted to see if he would try to drive a stake in the Purple team's (and thus, our) heart for the second straight week, or whether he would try to play the game and vote off a guy with a lot more weight to lose.

Instead, the way the elimination shook out, Rulon's vote didn't matter. And so they didn't show it. Never mind it totally mattered to those of us who wonder, and have wondered all season, what the heck goes on in that big Shrek head!

If Rulon had chosen Hannah, it would have meant three votes for Hannah and three for Ken. A tie. It also would have meant widespread outrage, rioting in the streets, dogs and cats living together...if not for that tie. Because of the tie, Ken -- who had the lowest percentage of weight loss in this, the first week of Singles competition -- would automatically get the boot.

Same result if Rulon had voted for Ken, because he'd have four votes to Hannah's two. Woulda, shoulda, coulda...nada.

They didn't reveal Rulon's vote because yes, technically, it didn't matter. It still felt like a weak way to end the show when there could have been super-crazy drama. In the end, though, Hannah got to stay, and Purple is the last intact "team" remaining in Season 11. So I can't complain too much.

But don't think we're going to forget that Rulon tried to vote off Olivia -- against Moses' wishes -- in Week 15. Purple is the color of a bruise. Which means that it lingers and reminds you of past pain and injury. ...

Speaking of the past, Kaylee apparently has made peace with hers and is back on track. But I've said that before, and she went and gained weight the next week. So who knows? Brett said it best this week when he called her a flip-flopper. Well, she's a flip-flopper who's among the Final 7.

If you've been living under a rock -- as long as it's a rock in New Zealand, that's totally cool -- you might wonder why Brett was saying anything this week. Wasn't he fired when his team dissolved back in California? Well, he came back to enjoy the last leg of the NZ vacation. More on that later.

ELIMINEE: Ken. He was very nice and fatherly, and I loved how he always showed so much support and affection and pride for Austin. We also loved how he conquered his fear of heights by jumping off the skytower with Bob, and how he summoned the courage to question Cara's training methods and qualifications. High drama! Come to think of it, New Zealand was Ken's coming-out party.

Hmmm. I'm going to miss Ken more than I thought when I started this blog. Oh, wait. I just remembered the alternative was Hannah. Sadness...gone.

WEIGH-IN: Hannah lost 3 (164 to 161); Olivia lost 4 (172 to 168); Irene lost 4 (161 to 157); Austin lost 5 (255 to 250); Ken lost 4 (247 to 243); Jay lost 5 (270 to 265); Rulon lost 10 (311 to 301); and Kaylee lost 5 (168 to 163). As I mentioned before, Hannah and Ken fell below the yellow line, but Ken had the lower percentage.

CHALLENGE: Raise your hand if you wish all "Biggest Loser" challenges were like this one! Meaning, both life-threatening and immunity-granting.

Talk about high stakes! The contestants jumped off of bridges and into canyons again this week, which looked intense, but the challenge offered a bigger payoff than just fun and conquered fears.

The eight players had to race down a raging river with nothing but what looked like a little kickboard to aid them. Everyone, from the viewers at home to the struggling swimmers on screen, hoped like heck that Rulon wouldn't win and gain immunity.

Here's another reason why this challenge rocked: Not only did Rulon lose, but he lost to Olivia! And not only did Olivia bust her butt to win, but she busted her eye (well, a blood vessel in her eye). She had to stand there at the weigh-in peering out of a tiny reddened slit, but she didn't care! Hero!
